The girls and I joined a local dance troupe called "Yokota Tanabata Dancers", last night was our first practice.
>
Tanabata is a traditional Japanese summer festival, held in July or August, depending on where you live, but we dance at lots of different festivals and other events from Apr - Nov. Our first performance will be the parade for the Fussa Sakura Festival on Apr. 4.

We all wear yukata, a summer kimono, and the troupe has had a fabric specially designed just for our yukata. They're a little on the pricey side, but it will be a priceless souveneir and memory. Plus, we'll only buy one for me, we'll rent Gabi's and younger dancers like Meg can wear any yukata they like, so we'll buy her a much cheaper one.
>
Here's a video of another dance troupe in the Fussa parade from a few years ago. It's not our troupe, but very similar to what we wear and the dance we will do.

I'm so excited, and I'm more than a little surprised that both girls are willing to join me!
